Construí mi propia casa en 1976. Empecé con los cimientos. Conseguí un permiso para cortar vigas y alguien que contraté me ayudó a cortarlas. Alguien más me ayudó a traerlas a mi propiedad y otra persona me ayudó a pelarlas. Yo traje algunas vigas en mi troca. Así es que el primer verano sólo conseguí las vigas y puse los cimientos. Al año siguiente contraté a dos hombres para que me ayudaran a hacer los adobes, que según se hacían los íbamos poniendo en los muros para que se secaran. Nos tardábamos tres días en poner una hilera de adobes alrededor de la casa. Comenzábamos en junio durante mis vacaciones de verano y para Septiembre estábamos poniendo las vigas. Yo hice toda la instalación eléctrica. Me tardé cinco veranos, cinco años para terminar mi casa.
I built my own home in 1976. I first started the foundation. I got a permit for vigas and I paid somebody to cut them for me. Then I got somebody else to bring them and somebody else to peel them. I brought some myself in my troca. So the first summer I just got the vigas and the foundation. Then the following year I hired two men and we made all the adobes. The adobes were laid on the wall and there it was where they dried. It took us three days to go around the house to lay one row of adobes. We started in June during my summer vacation, and by September we were putting up the vigas. I did my own electrical wiring. It took me five summers, five years to finish.
