Yo andaba con la lucha por la tierra desde el año de 1946. En los tiempos en que mi papá peleaba por la tierra, yo sabía de una sola mujer sabía que atendía las juntas de la merced. Ella era una cuñada de mi papá. No se acostumbraba que las mujeres fueran a la lucha. Yo vine a saber de la merced y todo eso cuando me casé con mi esposo en el '39, porque él peleaba por la tierra y aún continúa peleando.
I have been involved in the land struggle since 1946. In the times when my father was fighting for the land I only heard of one woman who attended the land grant meetings. She was a sister-in-law of my father's. In those days it wasn't well thought of for women to participate in the land struggle. I learned about the land grant and the struggle in '39 when I married my husband. He was fighting for the land then and is still fighting now.
