My dad had a certain way the boys were treated, and a certain way the girls were treated, you know, just as an example: we had horses, and the boys were allowed to go off with their friends and ride, you know, to the ditch banks or the roads, whatever. I had to ride where my dad could watch me, you know, within the yard. I wasn't allowed to take off with the horses. So it was like he was real protective towards the girls. To me I always felt like, like my rights were being violated.
